Shamsa Shafi, MD: Dr. Shafi grew up in Farmington, CT. In 2000 she graduated from Smith College, Summa cum Laude, majoring in Biology. Her goal of becoming a physician was fulfilled at UCONN School of Medicine where she received her medical degree in 2005. Dr. Shafi's love for children made pediatrics an obvious choice. She completed her pediatric residency program at Jacobi Medical Center in New York City, June 2008. Her residencey provided her with a great foundation in both infant/child and adolescent medicine. She is excited to return home and start practicing general pediatrics. "Having the opportunity to develop close relationships with each patient and their families is what makes me love pediatrics. I cannot wait to start to build these relationships, as being around children every day is what brings me the most happiness. For me it is fun, not work!"
